On April 25, the Wildlife Center admitted another Black Bear cub – the fifth of the year.

The male cub was confiscated and brought to the Center by the Department of Game and Inland Fisheries. Details surrounding the initial discovery of the cub are unclear. This is the third confiscated cub of the year that had been kept for a period of time by people.

Dr. Kristin, the Center’s veterinary intern, examined the cub after he arrived. The cub was bright, alert, and healthy, although he was a little thin. The veterinary team performed radiographs while the bear was under anesthesia. There were no significant findings.

The cub is similar in size to cub #14-0224; certified wildlife rehabilitator Amber plans on introducing the two cubs this weekend.

Day in and day out, the Wildlife Center relies on the support of individuals for its life-saving work. Please help!
