Several times per year, the Wildlife Center opens its doors to give the public an up-close view of our work, as well as to meet some of the wildlife that serve as the Center’s education ambassadors.
As a wildlife emergency room and hospital, the Wildlife Center is not open to the public. These seasonal open house events are times when visitors may tour our Waynesboro facility.
Each open house includes an introduction to the Center in our outdoor pavilion, a walk through the hospital, and a tour of our ambassador enclosures. You’ll meet some of the Center’s education animals—the non-releasable animals that are permanent residents here, including Buddy (a Bald Eagle), Athena (a Barred Owl), and Maggie (a Peregrine Falcon). Patients and patient enclosures will not be seen during the open houses.
Tours are free, but reservations are required. Our limited number of spaces generally fill up quickly, especially weekends. A waitlist will be available for each time slot in case of cancelations.
No phone calls, please! We need to keep the lines open for wildlife emergencies.

Reservation Guidelines:
- May be made for up to six individuals
- Children aged five and up may attend and must be accompanied by parents or guardians
- Larger groups (schools, clubs, scout troops, etc.) are strongly encouraged to book a private tour so staff can better cater to your group's needs
ADA Considerations:
Our program will start in our outdoor pavilion, only accessible by stairs, and part of the tour is on an uneven gravel incline. Guests with mobility limitations or those who are unable to stand for long periods of time may have difficulty accessing the outdoor portion of the tour. If you or someone in your party needs accommodations to fully participate, please let us know—we cannot provide accessibility devices but are happy to work with you to make arrangements.
