We’re excited to share that the Wildlife Center will be featured in the first of a two-part special of VPM’s award-winning documentary series, Life in the Heartland — and you can watch the episode live as it airs!
Longtime Wildlife Center viewers may remember Untamed, our television series produced in partnership with VPM. We’re thrilled to return to VPM with another opportunity to share the Wildlife Center’s work with viewers across Virginia and beyond.
Earlier this year, Life in the Heartland began filming a special episode celebrating America 250 and exploring the people, places, and stories that bring rural communities together. Around the same time, the production team heard that Buddy, the Center’s Bald Eagle ambassador, would be celebrating his 18th hatch-day with a public event. They decided Buddy’s story — and the work of the Wildlife Center — belonged in the episode.
The first 30-minute episode will take viewers across Virginia, with nearly a third of the program dedicated to Buddy and the Wildlife Center. Viewers will get a closer look at the Center’s work, hear from several members of our team, and, of course, see Buddy himself!
Watch the episode live on Thursday, October 1 at 8:00 pm Eastern!
If you’re in VPM’s broadcast area, you can tune in on your local VPM station. The special is also being distributed nationwide by American Public Television, so check your local PBS station’s schedule for airtimes in your area. Don’t see the special on your local schedule?
