Last week, we invited you to help us choose a name for our new Eastern Hog-nosed Snake ambassador. The response was overwhelming, and we are thrilled to share the results!
After tallying a total of 6,730 votes, we’re excited to announce the winning name is … Ziggy!
It was a close contest, but out of the two options—Ember and Ziggy—Ziggy emerged as the clear winner. Suggested by one of the Center’s longtime supporters and reptile enthusiasts, “Ziggy” is a simple, friendly name inspired by the winding, zig-zagging movements of a slithering snake. This friendly name option is easy for children to say and remember, while encouraging curiosity about snakes rather than fear.
Thanks to your support, we've raised a total of $6,730! Every dollar from your votes will directly benefit Ziggy and the many patients who come to us with life-threatening injuries. Your generosity ensures we can provide the best possible care for these amazing animals.
Ziggy is now available to “adopt” through the Center's Caring for Critters program.
