Last week, we invited you to help us choose a name for our new Virginia Opossum ambassador. The response was overwhelming, and we are thrilled to share the results!
After tallying a total of 10,025 votes, we’re excited to announce the winning name is … Cosmos!
Out of the three options—Powhatan, Cosmos, and Mars—Cosmos emerged as the clear winner. Inspired by the vast, starry sky, Cosmos is the perfect name for this nocturnal opossum who loves to roam his enclosure at night. Plus, the Cosmos flower, a cousin of the Marigold, shares a special connection to our previous ambassador, Marigold. With this name, Cosmos will carry on Marigold's legacy of teaching the world about these often misunderstood creatures.
Thanks to your support, we've raised a total of $10,025! Every dollar from your votes will directly benefit Cosmos and the many other opossums who come to us with life-threatening injuries. Your generosity ensures we can provide the best possible care for these amazing animals.
