After one month of rehabilitation, Bald Eagle #25-3383 was released back to the wild.
Bald Eagle #25-3383 was admitted on August 25 after being found grounded in Charles City, Virginia. Although a physical exam did not reveal any injuries, bloodwork showed that the eagle had subclinical lead toxicosis, a significant issue for Bald Eagles. The Center's veterinary team performed chelation therapy to remove the lead and daily flight exercises to help the bird rebuild his strength. On September 29, the eagle was officially cleared for release!
The eagle was successfully released at York River State Park on October 3, 2025, in front of a crowd of about 150 people. Director of Outreach Connor Gillespie reports that “the eagle was quick to leave his crate and veered right, flying over the tree line and out of sight. ”
