If an American Kestrel ran a pizza shop, what would she sell there?
Some of our Arizona-based “Cam in the Classroom” students recently came up with advertisements for a restaurant called “Edie’s Pizza Nest”. Earlier this year, Mrs. Matheson’s fourth-grade class adopted Edie, the Wildlife Center’s education American Kestrel, through our academic Caring for Critters program. Mrs. Matheson has taken Edie’s education ambassador role to a new level by incorporating her into writing assignments, math lessons and quizzes, science lessons, and more.
For a recent assignment, Mrs. Matheson had her students create an advertisement for “Edie’s Pizza Nest”. The students had to get creative, and think about what type of items Edie would sell at her restaurant. Using two or three persuasive techniques, the students needed to include advantages of eating at there, testimonials from people who have been to the restaurant, or a description of how the item makes them happy.
We’re impressed – it sounds like Edie’s Pizza Restaurant is quite the place, and has some good deals on pizza!
