After five months of intensive care and rehabilitation, Bald Eagle #25-4133 is ready to return to the wild—and you can join us for the release!
This adult Bald Eagle was rescued on November 18 after being injured in a fight with another eagle in Middlesex County. Upon admission, veterinary staff found that the birds had significant head trauma, including multiple puncture wounds to the head and neck. The vet team had to perform more than 10 surgeries over the span of three months to repair the wounds.
By March, the eagle's wounds had fully healed, and our team started exercising her daily to rebuild her strength. On April 13, the eagle demonstrated that she was ready and was officially cleared for release!
This eagle will be released at Belle Isle State Park on Wednesday, April 15, at 1:00 pm. Wildlife Center President Meg will deliver a presentation on the Center’s life-saving work with Bald Eagles, and then we'll open the crate doors to release the eagle back to the wild.
Join us to watch Bald Eagle #25-4133 return home! The release is free and open to the public. Attendees are asked to RSVP with the name and number of people in their party through our Eventbrite registration.
The release will take place rain or shine, unless thunderstorms with lightning threaten visitor safety.
