After one month of rehabilitation, Bald Eagle #25-3592 is ready to return to the wild—and you can join us for the release!

Bald Eagle #25-3592 was transferred to the Center from the Southwest Virginia Wildlife Center on September 10, after being found downed following an altercation with two other eagles in Franklin County, Virginia. Although a physical exam did not reveal any injuries, bloodwork showed that the eagle had subclinical lead toxicosis, a significant issue for Bald Eagles. The Center's veterinary team performed chelation therapy to remove the lead and daily flight exercises to help the bird rebuild his strength. By October 6, the eagle had recovered and was cleared for release.

Join us to watch the eagle return home! The release is free and open to the public, and will be held on Tuesday, October 14, at 1:00 p.m. at Smith Mountain Lake Community Park. Attendees are asked to RSVP with their name and the number of people in their party through this webform.

Directions: Use the address 1482 Parkway Ave, Moneta, VA 24121 for GPS navigation. The release will take place next to the beach; park staff will be available to assist with parking.

We hope to see you there!
