Bald Eagle #14-2147 update

Bald Eagle #14-2147 was radiographed on October 20 to check on the status of her injured shoulder. Dr. Meghan found that the shoulder area looked mostly unchanged; while the injury has not deteriorated, it has also not shown signs of significant improvement. Dr. Meghan also noted some changes in the eagle’s lungs, which could be an aspergillosis [fungal] infection. Blood work was also performed on the eagle; results revealed a high white blood cell count.

The eagle was treated with anti-fungals and antibiotics and was returned to a C-pen for additional cage rest. Additional blood work and repeat radiographs will be performed within the next week.
