On the evening of May 14, the Wildlife Center admitted another Black Bear cub – this one from Grayson County, Virginia. A homeowner saw the cub on her property for several days with no sign of the cub’s mother – when the cub seemed to be getting weaker, the woman rescued it and called the Department of Game and Inland Fisheries.

Dr. Rich Sim admitted the cub -- #13-0902 – and performed a full work-up the following day. Weighing 2.90 kgs, the female cub appears to be healthy – the physical examination and radiographs were within normal limits. The cub will be set up in a crate in one of the Center's indoor patient rooms and will be fed twice a day. If the bear is free from internal parasites, she will be introduced to bear cubs #13-0874 - #13-0876 within the next day.

Your special donation will help the Center to provide care to this Black Bear cub ... and to the 2,500 sick, injured, and orphaned wild animals the Center will treat this year. Please help!
